Direct from Louisiana, Fitzgerald Press offers limited edition lino block prints and posters, witty notecards, and other ephemera with handset type.
Years ago, John Fitzgerald suffered nicks and cuts as he worked on his first linoleum block for days and worrying the whole time that he wasn’t doing very well. But when it was time to ink up and pull his first print, he was both thrilled with the results and enchanted with this magical process.
When it came time to find a way to make a living, John enrolled at the local trade school to learn commercial offset printing, where everything had to be done yesterday... and by this afternoon it was headed for the dump. But after a few decades, digital technology wiped out almost all of the offset prep jobs — and he had to figure out another way to earn a living. Once he decided to go back to his roots as a relief printer, John set about collecting cast off-letterpress equipment and building his own business. Now he does work he really cares about and is grateful to every customer who helps make that dream a reality!
