Gisela Ramirez (she/they) is a printmaker and ceramicist who creates fine art prints on paper and fabric. She received her BFA and BA in Printmaking and Ceramics from California State University, Chico in 2020. There she received the Janet Turner Print Memorial Scholarship for excellence in printmaking and the Lt. Robert Merton Rawlins Merit Award for outstanding academic and professional accomplishments. She is currently an instructor for McGroarty Arts Center and teaches printmaking and ceramics classes. Nopal Picante is her small business based out of the Los Angeles area. The imagery she uses highlights socio-political issues related to financial insecurity and the gentrification of marginalized groups. She draws inspiration from her own family’s migration story and her own struggles with identity. She hopes to bring people together by encouraging resistance and change to protect ecosystems at risk of endangerment that will affect marginalized communities.
